Project Objectives

  • To identify the areas of improvement to promote organizational efficiency of community rural electrification entities (CREEs) in Nepal leading to improved financial health of these entities.
  • To explore, design and implement technological solutions for the supply side (losses) and demand side efficiency improvement (DSM), and billing and bill payment methods.
  • To carry out policy research on bulk and retail tariff and government subsidy and to make recommendations to enhance the organizational effectiveness in community rural electrification management of CREEs in Nepal.

Expected Outcomes

  • Assessment of potential productive end uses that may be promoted based on the local demand and resource endowment
  • Adoption of energy efficient LED bulbs/tube lights, ceiling fans, and awareness on energy star labelled appliances
  • Size (kVAr), location of the capacitors to be installed in one 11 kV feeder.
